Chukars split with Linn-Benton CC, winning game 2, 7-3
(Ontario, OR) - The TVCC baseball team lost their season home opener 5-2 to the Roadrunners from Linn-Benton CC on Saturday afternoon at Elks Memorial Field, but then bounced back in game 2 winning 7-3.
In game one, sophomore starter Tyler Laird suffered the loss, going 4.1 innings giving up 6 hits, 4 earned runs and recorded 6 strikeouts.
The Chukars could only produce 3 hits in the game with Cole Jones, Logan LaFamina, and Chase Barrera each recording a single.
In game two, the CHUKS jumped out to a 5-0 lead and hung on for a 7-3 win. Reliever Kaleb Jones picked up the win going 3 innings, giving up 2 earned runs and 2 walks, while recording 4 strikeouts.
Cole Jones led the offense going 3-4 (double). Tanner Cantwell collected 2 hits, and LaFamina, Tyler Roper, Dylan Mansanzarez, and Barrera each collecting one hit.
The Chuks will host LBCC again Sunday in a DH starting at 11 am.
